FROM TUTOR TO FRIEND AND COLLABORATOR
Two perspectives, curious conversations and ideas for what comes next.
I am super proud of this collaboration with the wonderful Soraya Shaw MSc, applied organisational neuroscientist, my neuroscience tutor, coach and now friend.
Our relationship began through learning and developed through a shared curiosity about how people think, lead, create and respond to change. Together, we have navigated our way through the unfamiliar world of podcasting to create Brainy Podcasts, now in its third year and listened to in 27 countries.
Neither of us began as experienced podcasters. We have learned, experimented and shaped Brainy Podcasts together, which has made the journey every bit as valuable as what we have created.

What Brainy brings to my work
One of the greatest privileges of being part of Brainy Podcasts is talking with fascinating people from different professions, sectors and walks of life.
I particularly enjoy the moment when we move beyond what someone does and begin to understand how they think, what drives them and what their experiences have taught them. I nearly always leave with a new perspective or a question that stays with me long after we have stopped recording.
Those conversations continually add to my own thinking and client work. They keep me curious, challenge my assumptions and help me make new connections between brain science, leadership, human capability and commercial reality.
Why our collaboration works
Soraya and I share many interests, but we do not always approach them from the same direction.
She brings the depth and rigour of applied organisational neuroscience, together with extensive experience of working in the creative industry. Today she supports senior leaders and organisational transformation. I bring practical experience of leadership and commercial environments, alongside a grounded understanding of how people, structure, culture and engagement influence organisational performance.
We challenge and build on one another’s thinking. There is expertise behind our conversations, but also warmth, humour and a willingness to follow an idea somewhere unexpected. We do not need to agree on everything, and that difference in perspective is often where the most interesting thinking begins.
